I'm from the Seattle area originally. I was in the military for seven years, just getting out in September of 2008. I took a job in Antarctica for four and a half months and then came back to Seattle to finally be home again. I've been climbing again locally and abroad since February in an effort to realize my dreams of climbing full time. Please help me out by sponsoring my climbs for Climb for Kids so that I can do what I love while doing it for people I love!

Artist and climber and musician. I'll draw the mountain from the bottom, I'll climb it to the top, and I'll sing a song about it all when we get back down.

Over the past 40 years I have been an avid hiker in the Cascades and have always had a dream of climing Mt. Rainier. This climb just happens to fall ON my 60th birthday and in the words of Warren Miller " If you don't do it this year, you'll just a year older when you do!" I don't have enough years left to put this off any longer. I also have the unique pleasure of making this climb with one of my sons, Aaron, who wil be celibrating his 30th birthday on the same climb. What an opportunity for the both of us. We intend to reach and possibly exceed our goal of $5000 each for this climb by asking for individual donations as well as seeking and procuring corporate and business sponsors. Although I will be 60 on the day of the climb I am currently in good physical condition, due to my winter week end job with the Steven Pass Ski Patrol, and will be in "great" condition by the time of the climb.

My father taught Wilderness Leadership Seminars in the 80's which set the tone for my future. I was raised to love and respect the outdoors and I have the desire to share that with other people. I was raised in Boulder County, Colorado with my 3 brothers. In the summers from a young age my family would go camping, backpacking, and rock climbing very often. In the winters my mom or dad would drive the couple of hours up to Winter Park to take us skiing. I was a Boy Scout and competitive soccer player and succeeded with both. My high school soccer team made it to the state playoffs and when I was 17 I received my Eagle Scout Award. Out of high school I moved to Steamboat, Colorado and got certified in Outdoor Emergency Care (ski patrol medical standard) I took that to Winter Park where I worked as a bike patroller. I then moved to Crested Butte, Colorado where my love of the outdoors has thrived. Being surrounded by the majestic Elk Mountains inspired me to take that passion to the next level. My current plans are to work towards my AMGA Alpine and BC Skiing certifications. I have a 2 year old son who is my heart and I hope to instill the same passion for the outdoors that my father sparked in me.
